One Reason I Tie Flies

Fall River is so clear. I can watch a trout rise from the bottom to attack my fly. I see them coming, straight up, and at the last second turn away. Why?

Well, maybe its because the fly was a little too big. It could be that it’s a little too dark green. It could be that it’s a little too heavily dressed. These thoughts send me back to the fly tying desk where I can make endless variations. Then that sends me back to the river, where I can test them. It’s a never ending process… and one that I love.

Always Fishing,

Pat
